Student athlete spotlight: Meet Aubrey Yancey, swimming star for Lutheran High School South
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Aubrey Yancey
Sophomore, Lutheran High School South
3.7 GPA
As a high school freshman swimmer, Aubrey Yancey was a state qualifier in both the 100 fly and 100 back at the 2023-2024 Missouri Class 1 state meet and finished seventh in the 100 butterfly.
Aubrey’s standout performance during her freshman year has brought her long-time goal of becoming a collegiate swimmer within reach. During the offseason, she dedicated countless hours to rigorous training in the pool, perfecting her technique and competing in numerous events. What motivates her most is the challenge of competing, not only against others but also against herself, which she finds deeply rewarding.
Now in her sophomore year, Yancey holds three Lutheran High School South records in the 100 butterfly, 100 back and 200 medley relay. To stay in top shape, she participates in the swim club year-round for the Clayton Shaw Park Swimming (CSP) Tideriders.
At the recent Ozark A Champs meet in Carbondale, Illinois, she qualified for the CSP National team with a time of 56.65 in the 100 butterfly. In her latest swim meet on December 10, Yancey qualified for state with an impressive time of 1:00:03 for the 100 fly. Yancey is currently ranked sixth in the state of Missouri for the class of 2027.
“The team at Bradley Chiropractic wish Aubrey a great season and congratulate her for being the Post Dispatch’s player of the month,” said Dr. Shawn Bradley, sponsor and founder of Bradley Chiropractic.
