Nathan Sutton, LS '02, directed “New Year”

A South grad's film has been selected for the St. Louis International Film Festival on Saturday, November 20. Nathan Sutton, LS '02, directed “New Year,” a film about a group of friends who come together for a distressing New Year's Eve celebration full of love, lies and unquestionable truth. As the night unfolds, a clearer picture emerges about just how much their ideas about each other have changed. Those realizations are further precipitated by a manipulative and destructive game called “I Love You, I Hate You,” which causes fights to break out and old friends to face hard truths. As the countdown to the New Year begins, the group is forced to deal with some increasingly harsh realities.

Sutton and his wife, the co-writer and lead actress in the film, will hold a Q&A following the screening. The film will be released in select theaters in late December.
